Marriage Profiles of the 2008 Presidential and Vice Presidential Nominees

While I was watching Sarah Palin’s speech during the Republican National Convention last night, I found it interesting to learn she married her high school sweetheart. It made me think that might make a fun blog: profiling the marriages of the 2008 Democratic and Republican presidential and vice presidential nominees. Barack and Michelle Obama They first met in 1989 when Barack interned at a law firm where Michelle worked. Apparently he was smitten with her right from the get go, but she didn’t want any part of an office romance. But Barack wouldn’t be deterred. He persisted in asking her … Continue reading

Dating Advice? Let’s Get Real

I wanted to write more about dating, so I decided to do a little research into what is currently passing as dating advice. While there is some good stuff available, not much has changed in some areas since I was single. Much of the dating advice being offered now is all too similar to what it was back in the day and that whole “snag a guy” or “win a girl” thing, frankly turns my stomach. Women aren’t looking to “snag” or trick or trap men and men shouldn’t be looking to “win” a girl as if she is some … Continue reading

Making Friends At Work—Helpful or Harmful?

I’ve done news stories on office romances and whether or not they’re a good idea, but today I heard an interesting discussion on the radio as to what role friendships should play in the workplace? The passionate responses were in response to the question: “Is it smarter to keep your personal and professional lives separate or to seek out friendships at your place of employment?” The listeners who were pro-work place friendships maintained that an office buddy could provide feedback on your performance or act as a sounding board. Of course, the other positive aspects of having work place pals … Continue reading

Dating: Listen to that Little Voice

We all have a little voice inside that tells us things, usually things we don’t want to hear. When it comes to dating pay attention! That voice is trying to tell you that the guy you think is just too hot is not the right guy for you. On the other hand, it might be telling you men that the ultra-sweet girl you are getting ready to ask out for the second time is not quite as sweet as she seems. People can manage to be on their best behavior during a quick meeting to make plans or even during … Continue reading

Ladies, Who Do You Want?

In June, I wrote a blog called What Do Women Want? and attempted to address the question that many women ask themselves over the years, what do we want in a potential mate? What attracts us to one man and not to another? For example, do you find Hugh Jackman attractive? Are you more interested in Brad Pitt? Or is George Clooney the man for you? When it comes to romance and relationships, answering just what do women want is not the easiest of questions. Why is it so hard? Easy, not all women are the same and what appeals … Continue reading
