If a Tree Falls in a Storm … Whose Insurance Pays?

It can happen to anyone. A big thunderstorm hits, with high winds, and pelting rain. This causes your neighbor’s tree to fall over, and to crash down on top your garage. Whose insurance pays for the damages? What type of insurance policy would a person send a claim to? The type of insurance policy that is designed to cover damages that happen to a person’s home, garage, shed, or other property is called homeowners insurance. You might have been required to purchase homeowners insurance when you bought your home. If not, then it is advisable that you get a homeowners … Continue reading

Parents To Blame For Kids’ Bad Driving

Is your kid a crazy driver? Is he to blame for sending your car insurance premium through the roof? Before you hold a grudge and withhold the car keys, you may want to take a good look in the mirror. According to a new study, your child’s maniacal driving habits could actually be your fault. Sure… blame the mother. The recently published study claims that bad driving may be genetic. According to researchers, there may be a particular gene that contributes to poor driving. Interestingly, if the research results hold up, it would mean that 30 percent of American drivers … Continue reading

Who’s to Blame?

I’m sure I’m not just talking about something peculiar to me here, when I say sometimes in marriage you know that what you’re doing is wrong and yet you go ahead and do it anyway. That’s what I did last night. I’d wanted to tell Mick about something I’ve been involved in that’s been taking up a lot of my time lately. But why did I pick when we watching the football to start telling him about it? Good question. Needless to say, his attention was taken by what was happening on the screen. The result was I didn’t get … Continue reading

The Marriage Blog Week in Review for May 12-18

Heather joined Lyn and I again this week in Marriage. As always we welcome the company. To find out what we all wrote about, check out the daily breakdown below. Monday, May 12 I revealed my true feelings about Trading Places. Which, in a nutshell, was that I learned a lot and enjoyed every minute of it. While walking Murph, I pondered my recent frustrations and disappoinment with Wayne. It led me to wonder who’s to blame, him or me?. I came to the realization that we’re both to blame. Tuesday, May 13 In Devotion Levels: Benchmarks, I wrote about … Continue reading

Murphy, Tabby, or Kitty: Who’s to Blame?

When it used to only be Murphy and Kitty I could pretty much figure out whose mess was whose or who was to blame when something went awry in our house. If I found a hairball, it was Kitty’s. Murph’s puke looks a lot different than Kitty’s (mainly because since he’s so much bigger there’s usually so much more of it) so that was an easy deduction. If something was knocked off a table, it was usually Kitty’s fault since he likes to whap things off counters. However, there’ve been a couple of times when one was wrongly charged in … Continue reading

I apologize for this being a little late. I actually took a weekend off. A whole weekend to myself to attend a homeschooling conference. But I won’t bore you with the details of my homeschooling conference since this is the baby blog! Here is last week’s list of articles: Sunday, April 29th Old Growth Charts Blamed for Fat Babies Since childhood obesity is reaching epidemic proportions in the United States, experts are looking at anything and everything as the cause. Many believe that encouraging breastfed babies to gain as much weight as formula fed babies is part of the problem. … Continue reading

First in Self Esteem and Last in Math: Whose Fault is It?

Have you read the statistics that came out a few years ago about America’s students? There was a large study done comparing elementary students through high school students with other countries and the results were dismal for sure. While our kids are number one in self esteem, we are near the bottom in all other academic subjects areas. In other words, we feel really good about failing! Everyone is quick to point to our failing public school system. . .and while I do feel that the public educational system needs some tweaking, I can’t say that I agree. I’ve always … Continue reading

Animal Abuse on the Set of ‘The Hobbit?’

As I mentioned, we saw Lincoln this past weekend. One of the previews was for The Hobbit, the much anticipated Peter Jackson film which opens in a few weeks. But, the film isn’t without controversy. Several animal wranglers used on the film say that up to 27 animals died on the New Zealand ranch where they were being housed and trained due to poor living conditions. The wranglers also claim that many animals were hurt and had to be euthanized, including a horse named Rainbow that broke its back. Yet another horse reportedly died after falling over a bluff and … Continue reading

Handling Your Child’s Questions About Your Divorce

It’s bound to happen; sooner or later your kids are going to start asking questions about your divorce. It’s only natural. Even if they were very young when the event took place, they are going to have questions about why their family is different than their friend’s. As a parent, this can be scary. Their questions likely don’t have easy answers and it can be hard to decide how to approach such a sensitive topic with them.
