Have you read about places where you can go for a weekend marriage seminar? There are several different offerings out there on the web, in local areas offered through religious organizations and by marriage therapists and more. One such place is SaveMyMarriage.com. Their seminars occur in different cities during different months and it's a three day seminar on helping you rebuild your communication skills.

Why a Weekend Seminar?

Why would a weekend seminar benefit you rather than seeing a marriage counselor or coach on a regular weekly basis? What makes this type of help different? There could be multiple reasons and the following is my opinion based on research as I've never been on a weekend retreat designed to focus solely on my marriage.

But consider the benefits of a weekend getaway for a couple. You get time to yourself, time to focus on your at the same time you are away from the distractions of daily life with its myriad of responsibilities and obligations. A weekend seminar provides couples with guided concentration on their communication skills, interpersonal relationship and more.

The Marriage Mixer A weekend seminar provides married couples with opportunities they might not otherwise have. They are not left to their own devices. Instead they may be offered group counseling sessions, discussions, private and with other couples as well as activities they need to do that helps them air out grievances and hopefully reconnect.

Many times, problems in a marriage occur when the connection between the couple drifts away from their concentration on each other. Their problems may be related to financial, career or family issues. They may be so busy with their daily lives that they forget that there is more to a marriage than sharing the same bed and house.

Couples need Communication Communication is not just about talking. In fact, too often the word communication is used as a placeholder for talking to each other. Couples can talk to each other all the time without communicating. Oddly enough, they may need tools and confidence to inspire them to complain without criticizing as well as open up about issues that may have troubled the marriage from the beginning but were pushed aside in favor of the freshness of the relationship.

Communication includes how we treat each other, both personally and to others. It reflects how we represent the marriage. How we treat the marriage. Do we treat it as a convenience? DO we treasure it? Do we give each other consideration beyond that which we would give others?

A weekend seminar can couples a really good foundation in rebuilding their intimacy and communication skills. This is not to say that the seminar is going to be a walk in the park, but the results could be a stronger bond and a better relationship between the couple - and I think that's more than worth a weekend of anyone's time to see if you can not only reconnect, but make your overall marriage better for it.
