Want a Creative Way to Propose?

Are you ready to ask the woman of your dreams to marry you? Have you looked for a ring? Have you thought of all the ways you might propose to her? Are you wondering whether you should propose in the traditional manner or are you looking for a more creative way to propose? It’s important to remember that your potential bride to be may love huge public displays of affection or she may be the shyer, quieter type who prefers a quieter, more private intimacy. MyMagic+ to Record Disney Guest Experience

Disney’s always looking for a way to get ahead in its parks, including providing the best customer service around. Its constant raising of prices might seem counter intuitive to that, but at least it keeps upgrading its services.  The New York Times has a fascinating new report on the Disney Parks’ latest effort: MyMagic+. MyMagic+ takes the physical form of a wristband park guests wear in place of tickets.  Guests won’t have to trade in paper tickets anymore, instead waving their bands in front of the new FastPass monitors (even if they didn’t purchase a FastPass, those Mickey monitors are used).  MyMagic+ … Continue reading

Tips for Getting Your Customer Service Issues Resolved

The amount of shopping that you do during the holiday season may increase the amount of time that you spend dealing with customer service issues. Here are a few tips for getting what you want and need from customer service. You may want to keep this list handy after the holidays too, because you never know when you might need it. The very first thing to do when you have a customer service issue is to clearly and politely ask for what it is that you want. Do not be shy, it will not get you anywhere. It is important … Continue reading

The Return of the Dark Fairy Tale

When studying the feminist evolution of the Disney princesses I came to the conclusion that it was time for Disney to once again reinvent the fairy tale for contemporary audiences. It seems that might be happening, though perhaps not in the way I’d expect. In the past year or so I’ve read a number of reports indicating that one of the latest trends in proposed films is the “dark fairy tale.” Several studios are green lighting movies that take classic fairy tales and “de-Disneyfy” them, supposedly turning them back to their darker roots. Whether or not the true sources of … Continue reading

A Night at the Magic Kingdom

Many of us had the fantasy as children: we get to spend a night locked in the mall, or zoo, or our favorite amusement park. The details might have differed, but the overall wish remained the same. We wanted to live in whatever counted as our personal wonderland. Now Variety Magazine reports that the Disney Company is planning a film which would play on that very desire. Forget about rides like Pirates of the Caribbean or The Haunted Mansion, it looks like the Magic Kingdom itself might be getting its very own movie. At this point the movie exists in … Continue reading

Green Celebrities: Daryl Hannah

Like Robert Redford, Daryl Hannah has been a long time advocate of environmentalism. And, like Woody Harrelson, she has joined the growing list of celebrities that have been arrested for supporting green practices. Daryl is known for being one of the first celebrities to drive a car that runs on biodiesel. In case you haven’t been reading our blogs, biodiesel is made from vegetable oil. Daryl was featured in a video for her blog in which she even drank the biodiesel fuel, having poured it straight from the pump to a glass, to prove a point of how biodiesel is … Continue reading

Helping Animal Shelters During a Recession

Some say the worsening economy is not quite a recession yet, others are convinced we’re already there. Whether we are or not, one thing is clear: with gas and food going up like they are, people have less to spend. Not only less discretionary income, but also less charitable giving monies to distribute. Some charities are going to feel the pinch more than others. Especially because historically this time of year (from now until fall) is when people tend not to give. (Come the holidays, from Thanksgiving through New Year, people tend to be more generous.) That’s why I say … Continue reading

Recession Proof Your Marriage: Dinner

The other day I proposed that marriages could actually benefit from recession. To start us off on the right-thinking foot, I proposed giving thanks for what we have right now. (Mainly, each other and any time we spend together, because that’s precious in and of itself.) Sometimes it just takes looking at all the good we enjoy to realize everything else isn’t as bad as it seems. However, I also hinted that I’d explore other ways a recession could benefit marriage. After giving the matter some thought, I’ve come up with some date night ideas. Ones that use the recession … Continue reading

Save Your Jokes Late-Night TV Hosts Can’t Take Them

Word sure spreads fast… Shortly after the announcement came that late-night TV hosts Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien plan to cross picket lines and get back to work by January 2nd amateur comedians got busy. According to NBC executives, both the network’s website and switchboard were inundated yesterday with material from jokesters around the country trying to peddle their laughs. Well, as of this morning, the peacock network has this to say to anyone who wants a new job as a late-night TV writer: Keep your jokes to yourself. Actually, the notice posted on NBC’s website reads as follows: “NBC … Continue reading
