Disney Cruise Destinations for 2014

The Disney Cruise Line prides itself on adding new destinations and different trips every year.  The itineraries for 2014 are starting to be released, so let’s take a look at the new places and experiences on the ticket for next year. First up, the Disney Cruise line is adding a whole new south Caribbean cruise.  The highlight of the trip is that it’ll be heading to Puerto Rico for the first time ever.  The Disney Magic will leave from San Juan on a new 7-night south Caribbean cruise that will also visit St. Lucia, Barbados, St. Kitts, Grenada, and Antigua. … Continue reading

Destination Weddings: Do or Don’t?

Writing about Disney Cruise Weddings/Vow Ceremonies made me think about destination weddings.  Given that I wanted my wedding to be as small and simple as possible, it’s difficult for me to relate to those interested in having a destination wedding. For me, the concept only seems to make sense if the bride or the groom actually hails from the area in which they’re getting married.  Maybe he or she was born abroad, or on the other side of the country.  It’s one thing to ask your guests to spend a lot on travel expenses just because you want to get … Continue reading

Married at Sea: Disney Cruise Weddings

I’ve never written much about a Disney wedding, which is strange because I’m a blogger both for our Disney and our Marriage categories. But if you read my marriage blogs you know that I’m not a fan of big, fancy weddings, and a Disney wedding would certainly be that. Previous Disney bloggers have written a lot on the topic, so I didn’t have anything new to offer. Until now. I just learned that the Disney Cruise line offers wedding and vow renewal packages. I’m always up for writing about a new Disney thing I didn’t know existed, and we’ve never … Continue reading

If I Had To Do My Wedding All Over Again…

Was your wedding absolutely perfect? Or do you ever think, now that you’re older and wiser, that there might be some things you’d do differently if you had it to do all over again? I’d do a couple of things differently. The Date When it came to picking a date, I really didn’t put much thought into it. I know at one point I’d thought maybe May 15 might be a good date, because that was the first day we met. However, we ended up rushing matters thanks to Wayne’s aunt. (Who I adore, make no mistake.) If it wasn’t … Continue reading

Luxury Locations for Destination Weddings

Destination weddings don’t come cheap—-for the bride and groom or their guests. I got married in Hawaii—-one of the most popular spots for destination weddings–only it wasn’t considered a destination wedding since I was born and raised in the Aloha State. However, many of our guests considered it a destination wedding given that they flew thousands of miles to attend the ceremony. With Valentine’s Day just a few weeks away many couples are finalizing the details of their February destination weddings. Meanwhile, many other couples that get engaged on February 14th will soon be making their own plans for a … Continue reading

Vermont: Destination Wedding Capital Of The World?

Well, not quite. But, state officials would love to lay stake to that claim—so much so that they devised a very unique contest to draw attention to the tiny state. Engaged couples had the chance to win a “free” wedding valued at more than $40,000 by submitting an online essay detailing their perfect Vermont wedding. The prizes were provided by local merchants. For example, a free cake from a local bakery, free flowers from local florists, a prenuptial agreement drawn up by a local attorney, teeth whitening by an area dentist… and the list goes on and on. The idea … Continue reading

My husband and I were married at Disney World and I’ve discussed our destination wedding here in the marriage blog before. But beginning this spring, Disney is adding a new facet to their Disney wedding splendor that you can take advantage of whether you are planning a Disney wedding or a wedding at home. Top 5 Gifts for the Bride

I know a number of people who enjoy the whole year’s worth of wedding planning, but with engagement parties, bridal showers, intermittent holidays (including birthdays and Christmas) and the wedding itself – it can be downright problematic trying to find something to give the bride on the day of her wedding or at any other time. You can have a great bridal registry, but if you have more than 20 people purchasing various gifts, you’ll need to put more than 100 different items on it. That can be a bit more than cumbersome.
