Mormon Mommy Blogs

I am a Mormon Mommy blogger. I am not famous in the blogging world, but I have a handful of friends that like to read what I post. I heard about this article on none other than a fellow mormon mommy blogger’s blog. The article was written tastefully, and shared some fun blogs that you should check out if you aren’t following them already. She refers to us as … Continue reading

The Problem with Negativity

The problem with negativity is that like many diseases it is contagious. It can so quickly spread not just from one comment to another but from one person to another. Recently I was playing a set of tennis with someone who was so negative. Every time he hit a shot wrongly, he berated himself. But when he did a shot that was good and a winner, he never acknowledged it to himself. Though I tried to encourage, it was like the words fell on deaf ears. The negative vibes coming from him were stronger. He wasn’t criticizing me or being … Continue reading

What Women Do Better

Maybe you have seen the recent headline that women do many things better than men. Is that true? Well several studies have apparently come up with 12 things that women do better than men. We Thought We Covered All Bases

We are not the traditional looking family and that is great with us. When we adopted our kids we could have said we want kids who have the same color hair, skin tone, and eyes so they would have matched us but instead we said we don’t care about any of that only that they were healthy and needing a family. That is truthfully what I think is all that matters. When we started the adoption process we had asked friends who are African American if they thought our child, if we adopted an African American child, would get ostracized … Continue reading

More of this, please…

One of our biggest questions that we ask in regards to older children in the system, one of the questions that led us to this adoption journey in the first place, is what happens when those children become adults? Where do they end up? The simple but depressing answer is… on the streets. According to statistics, 80% of homeless youth in this country are foster children who aged out. There is another answer, though… in jail. With no home to call their own, and no family to turn to, I guess we shouldn’t be surprised. Released from the system to … Continue reading

Thanksgiving

We don’t celebrate thanksgiving in Australia but I wish we did. I think it is important to be thankful. So what about writing out and sharing a thanksgiving list with your spouse or to give to you spouse. On it you could include all the things you are thankful for. For example in writing out a thanksgiving list for Mick I could include things like, I am thankful for all the years of happy marriage we have head together and for the good times we have had. I am thankful even for the hard times that we have gone through … Continue reading
