The Marriage Blog Week in Review for February 25-March 2

It was another slow week here in the Marriage Blog. Not intentionally. Lyn was battling the flu unfortunately. She was busy trying to recover her strength. I don’t have a good excuse for my lack of article submissions. Except it was the end of the month and I was scrambling to wrap up all sorts of loose ends. But in case you missed any of the few articles we did post, here’s a handy Week in Review recap for your reading pleasure. Tuesday, February 26 Can You Answer These 15 Questions About Your Significant Other? A friend of mine who … Continue reading

Leap Year or Not—February is a Short Month for Business

I have mixed feelings about February. To begin with, it is my birthday month, so I am rather fond of it for that reason only. From a work perspective, however, it tends to give me a bit of stress. With 2-3 days less in the month, you would think that it might make things easier but for a woman who needs every day an every hour to try to generate income—three (or two) in a leap year less days can have an effect on my bottom line and my energy level. I imagine it might be more mental than anything—I … Continue reading

The Gift of February 29

Today we have all been given a gift: Leap Day! It’s a precious treasure that only comes around every four years. Why do I consider it a precious treasure? Because I don’t know about you, but it’s not every year I’m given an extra day to spend with my loved ones. Think about that. Today you can sneak in one more hug, one more kiss, one more “I love you.” That’s something I touched upon in It’s Never Enough: Cherishing Each Married Moment. About how when a spouse passes, whether you’re aware it’s looming or not, you’ll never be prepared … Continue reading

Spring Fling Without the Cha-Ching!

April showers bring May flowers… in your hotel room. It’s not often that you hear of hotels giving guests something for nothing, but this spring, the Hyatt Century City in Los Angeles is gifting visitors with the sweet smell of seasonal blossoms—for free. The popular L.A. lodging recently installed a flower cart beside its front desk. Upon check-in, guests are given a small vase and told they can design their own floral arrangement to bring up to their room, at no extra charge.  Blossoms range from tulips, daisies, and irises to chrysanthemums, sunflowers and carnations.  According to Hyatt staff, the … Continue reading

When it comes to winter travel, most people fall into one of two camps:  fire or ice.  The former is more attractive to those who prefer to escape Old Man Winter’s wrath and soak up the sun in a warm climate.  The latter is more inviting to ski bunnies and other cold weather enthusiasts.
