Taking Emergency Valentine's Day Actionby Courtney Mroch | More from this Blogger 13 Feb 2008 01:48 PM Eeeek! Turns out Wayne's going to be home for Valentine's Day after all. I wasn't prepared for that. He was supposed to be out of town working a deal until Friday. What's a wife to do with virtually no time to plan anything? Well, to be honest, I'm not totally unprepared. You remember all those personalized Valentine gift articles I wrote? The ones about gifts to delight your Valentine, inspire intimacy, display around your home, and hang on your walls? After I wrote them, I went shopping. That's right. Wayne's getting A Valentine Message in a Bottle, a L-O-V-E floral print with our names in the middle, and the matching coasters set. (Okay, so those last two are really more for me than him. I did say I was "so going to get them." But he'll like them too.) And using the cherry chips I got from The Baker's Catalog I was planning on making him a batch of cherry chip cookies for his return Friday. I'll have to bump that up a day is all. I also already have cards. Yes, plural. I found some cute ones from the dog and cat. (Tabby, that is. Mr. Meow, Wayne's nemesis, doesn't intend to call a truce for Valentine's Day.) So really, except for dinner, I'm all set. Since I like to cook, and since Wayne likes my cooking, I wouldn't mind spending a quiet night at home together. Especially since it will be such a nice treat to get to do it considering I thought he wasn't going to be here. I have some ideas for what I might serve, but what if I didn't? What would I do? Turn to suggestions from my fellow bloggers of course! Food Valentine's Day Ideas Over in Food the girls have some wonderful suggestions. In Seeing Red on Valentine's Day, Michele shared a recipe for a healthy, easy to make, and tasty pasta dish. She also covered dessert with a recipe for decadent Valentine's Day bar cookies. But Valorie also had another suggestion: fondue for Valentine's Day. Ooo la la!
