You know how I wrote Friends: You Just Never Know Who You Have in Common? Well, turns out the wife of Wayne's friend is not my childhood friend after all. I didn't have her email address, but I had her snail mail address so I sent a letter saying how funny it all was that we knew each other. Wayne had the email address for his guy friend, so he wrote to him that way. On Saturday she used Greg's email to write and say there is no way I can be her friend. She grew up in western Louisiana and is also 14 years older than me. She also apologized and said part of the confusion was her fault. I had written to her a few years back bringing up the long lost friend thing and she'd blown it off as a fluke. She apologized for not setting me straight sooner. So that left me extremely confused. She looked very similar to the girl from my youth. I could've sworn her name was the same as Peggy's... What was I missing? I knew the person who could help clear up my confusion: my dad. I finally got a hold of him and asked what his friend Ralph's daughter's name was. "Tracie. And his name wasn't Ralph. It was Rolf." (I thought it was kind of weird someone would be named Ralph Rolfes, but...) And the last name? COMPLETELY different too. Not even close. In my defense, I have a tendency to be easily confused anyway, but there was a reason behind my madness. Rolf's wife's name was Peggy. That's where I was associating the two with the wife of Wayne's friend. It was a discombobulated name jumble in my head that led to my confusion...and that gave Wayne wonderful new ammo to torment me with. I'll admit this was a doozie of a confused scenario, and when I screw up I do it big, but thankfully we're laughing about it. As I liked to remind Wayne, he didn't marry me for my brains.
