Should You Play Matchmaker?

It is getting very close to Valentine's Day. It is a time of the year for love and romance. It is also the time of the year for matchingmaking and setting up blind dates.

It can be very hard to see friends and loved ones alone this time of the year. No one wants to think of anyone, especially those that they are close to, of being alone on Valentine's Day.

However, there are many things to think about before you begin to play cupid. Setting up your friend or family member may seem like a great idea. Yet when playing match maker, most people never consider that the relationship may not work.

When things do not turn out for the best, the match maker can be stuck in a very sticky situation.

Most couples think that it is a great idea to set up mutual friends. She has a single friend and so does he. So why not introduce the two and see what happens?

If the couple works out things may be great. However, things can turn sour very quickly if the relationship does not go so well.

The couple can find themselves arguing and fighting over which friend was right and which friend treated the other badly. It can also cause a damper on inviting guests over and having parties. If things went really badly, the couple may not be able to have both friends over to their house at the same time.

The couple may have to make decisions over which friend gets preference over the other. This again can cause conflict between the couple.

So this Valentine's Day, think long and hard before setting up those blind dates between mutual friends. If you feel the need to set up a friend with a date, try choosing an acquaintance that perhaps you are not as close with or have as many ties to.
