Nostalgia Nights

After the heavy topics of the last few days I thought I’d opt for something lighter today. What about taking a step back into the past? Hold a nostalgia night or several. It could be good for your marriage. Recently Mick was talking about soothing that happened when we were younger, which is what ca gave me the idea. We decided to hold a series of nostalgia nights. Starting with our wedding photos, we followed the course of our life together via the photo albums right up to the wedding of our son. Our wedding photos didn’t take all that … Continue reading

The Wedding Ring is Back

I’m excited. The wedding ring is back. Yes, my husband was able to pick up his resized ring last week. It’s all lovely and shiny and back on his finger where it belongs. ‘Look how beautiful and shiny yours is compared to mine,’ I said putting my hand next to his. ‘No problem. We can polish your rings up for you,’ the young sales assistant offered. ‘You could, but only if it could be done on my finger. They won’t come off,’ I said. ‘They’ve been there too long.’ As well as getting his wedding ring resized, Mick got a … Continue reading

What is Romance?

Romance is something every marriage needs. I’m sure we’d all like to be romanced. It makes us feel good. But what exactly is romance? If you don’t then it’s time you found out. You need to do more communication. Run a few suggestions by them. … Continue reading

Drifting Apart

During one of our nostalgia nights we also looked over both children’s baby books. It’s easy to forget little things that happen, so it was fun to reminisce about the cute and funny things they said and some of the antics they got up to. What was interesting when we went through baby books, we found some names of people we received gifts and cards from were names we couldn’t place. The same happened with some of the slides, we found there were people that we used to know but we simply couldn’t remember who they were. It seems we … Continue reading

Winter’s the Best with Pets

Like much of the country, this week’s temperatures in Nashville have been very wintery indeed. Once upon a time I vowed never again to live in a climate that had winter. It could be a season in name only. (I grew up in Denver. I chose to go to college at the University of Arizona very much on purpose. It was (a) away from home, and (b) in a nice warm and sunny climate. No more snow!) I successfully managed to uphold my vow for 17 years. I lived in Tucson for five years, Phoenix for six, and Jacksonville, Florida, … Continue reading

Looking for Change in the Kitchen, Bedroom, Bath, or Hall? Go Vintage

Vintage or vintage-look fabrics and other items can go a long way toward adding softness, a bit of nostalgia, and a sense of comfort to various spaces.
