What’s the Spookiest Thing That’s Happened to You on Halloween?

Happy Halloween! I don’t know if it’s the kid in me or what, but Halloween remains one of my favorite holidays. I love decorating and dressing up even though I don’t have any kids and some may think I’m too old for such nonsense. But I don’t care. I still think it’s a hoot. However, this Halloween, even though the decorations are up, I find myself facing something very scary indeed. A trip to the doctor. Dreading the Doctor After having to schlep my mom to and from doctors’ offices this past year, I’ve semi-sort of conquered one fear in … Continue reading

17 Ideas for Capturing Couple Time This Fall

Fall inspires romance doesn’t it? Seems like love is in the air everywhere you turn. The cooler weather makes it ideal for snuggling up closer to the one you love. The changing colors are a good excuse to go for a drive or a walk and enjoy some time together. Those are just a couple of the more popular ways to capture couple time this fall, but there are others. Here’s some ideas inspired from my own experiences as well as from articles I’ve read (and noted herein) written by fellow Families.com bloggers. Passing Time at Patches, Orchards, and Farms … Continue reading

My Favorite Halloween Couple Costumes: Spookiest Costumes

I didn’t exactly set out intending to do a My Favorite Halloween Couple Costumes series, but that’s what happened. I’ve covered funniest, sexiest, period, and classic characters costumes. I have one final category left: spookiest. I’ve never dressed up as anything spooky for Halloween. I have a sneaking suspicion neither has Wayne. (I know he hasn’t since we’ve been together, but I can’t vouch for when he was a wee thing.) It might be fun to break out of our molds and try something completely different though. Here’s the costumes I could see us doing that with: • Ghostly Gentleman … Continue reading

She offered some great ideas for Halloween costumes for couples. Heather wondered should a prenup be compulsory these days? I offered some ideas for how to learn more about your … Continue reading

My Favorite Halloween Couple Costumes: Classic Characters Costumes

If you’ve been following my favorite Halloween couple costumes series, you’ve seen my picks for funniest, sexiest, and period costumes. Well, I’m not through yet. I can’t leave out the classics –the characters everyone recognizes from TV shows and movies. Not since I was very little, like seven, have I dressed up as a favorite TV character. (Wonder Woman was the preferred choice several years in a row as I recall.) But it might be fun one of these years to see if Wayne would like to couple up as one of the following: • Fred and Wilma Flintstone: Wayne’s … Continue reading

My Favorite Halloween Couple Costumes: Period Costumes

Is it just me, or is there something incredibly romantic about costumes from bygone eras? From medieval gowns to antebellum garb, I’m completely enchanted with the prospect of dressing in the clothes our ancestors once wore. Halloween is a wonderful time of year. It serves as an excuse to indulge the dress-up fantasy. (Face it, just because we get older doesn’t mean the urge to pretend we’re someone else like we once did as children vanishes.) But I know not everyone shares my enthusiasm about this. Wayne will dress up, but he prefers funny costumes to fancier ones. (Which he … Continue reading

My Favorite Halloween Couple Costumes: Sexy Costumes

Wayne can pull off sexy. He’s tall and athletic and in good shape. He’d make a dashing officer or chiseled gladiator. Then there’s me. Sexy and I don’t really mix. For one thing, I’d need to lose a dramatic amount of weight to make most of the costumes work on me. For another, I’ve got more of the girl next door demeanor. But I like to look at the sexy costumes nonetheless. I fantasize about living in another dimension where I am in good enough shape where Wayne and I could both wear coordinating sexy costumes. (But then I wonder … Continue reading
