Tips for Becoming a More Empathetic Parent

No one every said that being a parent would always be easy. There will be times when your child’s behavior frustrates you (or makes you angry). Many people “lose their cool” when they feel stressed and overwhelmed. Children need parents who are empathetic to their needs. Here are some tips to help you become a more empathetic parent. There is an article in the Huffington Post titled “How to Be an Empathetic Parent, Even When It Feels Hard”. It was written by Andrea Nair. She is a psychotherapist and parenting educator who teaches people how to be empathetic. In her … Continue reading

It Just Got Easier to Sue Your Insurer in California

A lawsuit was filed by a man who wanted to choose his own auto repair place, instead of the one that his insurance company suggested. This lawsuit eventually lead to a decision by the California court of Appeals to open up another option that consumers could sue their insurers under. It is expected that there will be an increase in the number of consumer protection lawsuits filed against California insurers as a result. There have been plenty of situations where someone chose to sue his or her insurance company. The laws regarding this might be different from one state to … Continue reading

Great Genealogy Blogs

Looking for the latest news in genealogy? A great way to do that is to subscribe to some of the genealogy blogs that function like newsletters. They are free to subscribe to, and many provide daily updates about news articles relating to genealogy. It sure saves time to have all this information collected in one place, ready for you to read. I like the genealogy blogs and newsletters because they do more than just provide links to resources that you can search through as you work on your own genealogy projects. The information found on these kinds of websites lets … Continue reading

One Month and Many Examples

My son is officially one month old today. There have been thousands of photographs, hundreds of nursing sessions, about 30 days without sleeping the whole night through, and one large family visit. This month also included the return to being a full-time student, part-time teacher, and infrequent graphic designer for Dad. I’ve been noticing a trend about my approaches to fatherhood. Remember that whole idea about becoming like your parents as you age? I’ve kind of figured out why. My primary example of fatherhood is my own father. Similarly, parenthood has primarily been modeled for me by my parents. In … Continue reading

The Importance of Making Your Husband Feel Wanted

The last couple of months I’ve had a chance to reflect on a profound insight fellow Families.com blogger Sherry Holetzky shared in a comment she left on one of my articles. While you’re clearly in pain and feeling neglected, a terrible place to be, it may well be that Wayne has issues of his own. He’s sharing you with your mom and he too may be feeling neglected. On a rational level, he likely knows that she needs you more, but somewhere inside it still hurts not to be the center of your world… Turns out, Sherry was dead on. … Continue reading

The Marriage Blog Week in Review for July 7-13

Poor Lyn has been quite the champ while I’ve been away. She took over covering Week in Reviews every week, instead of every other. (Thanks again, Lyn!) But now I’m back to resume my share of the duties. (Albeit I’m a wee bit off schedule this week.) At any rate, here’s a recap of what Lyn, Heather, and I wrote about on: Monday, July 7 Lyn shared more about relating to your man and the importance of it. She also examined issues of compatibility. Tuesday, July 8 Lyn wondered if verbal affairs were just as detrimental as physical ones. Lyn … Continue reading

More about Relating to Your Man

I left off a discussion in which we were discussing how women relate to their men. In that discussion I described how some women are completely accepting of their man because his positive aspects outweigh his negatives. I also talked about how some women are very rejectful toward their husbands and how this can lead to marriage dissolvement. Some women combine the two above together and simply tolerate their man. Half of the time they accept him and his faults. The other half they reject him. This juggling back and forth between the two can leave both of you in … Continue reading

Relating to Your Man

One of the greatest challenges in marriage is learning to live with, deal with, and in some cases even tolerate your partner of the opposite sex. Both men and women can be heard with struggles and complaints about their mate. The two genders think differently, act differently, and feel differently. It is impossible to completely understand the feelings, thoughts, and emotions of your mate due to the difference in chemical make-up. There is no wonder why we must be understanding and work at relating to our mate. In this article I will focus mainly on the various ways that you … Continue reading

The Great Benefits of Blogging for a Company, Part Two

If you missed it, here is Part One. Knowing how much you’ll make as a blogger is a great benefit of working for a company, but there are more. Check them out: *The Page Rank for a company blog is almost always higher than the Page Rank for a start-up personal blog. This is only true in the case of where the company blog is established – if the company blog is a start up also, then obviously the Page Rank will be nonexistent at first. If you don’t know what I mean by “Page Rank,” then check out the … Continue reading
