More Splits and Marriages

Wow, what a busy week it has been for celebrity splits and marriages. First, there was the news that Jodie Foster split from her long time partner Cydney Bernard. Then, Cynthia Nixon, who had not talked about her lesbian relationship until recently, said she wanted to marry girlfriend Christine Marinoni. Now there is another lesbian couple that claims they want to get married. Ellen DeGeneres and galpal Portia de Rossi have decided to take advantage of the California Supreme Court ruling that struck down the ban against same sex marriages yesterday. Sources say she made an announcement that she and … Continue reading

If you missed any of last week’s musings from Lyn and myself, check out this edition of the Week in Review to see what we wrote on: Monday, December 17 How Much are You Willing to Give? More on Elizabeth Taylor

Earlier this week, we lost a true legend – Elizabeth Taylor. I blogged briefly about her star as a child star then her transition to adult roles. I had just touched on her first four marriages when I mentioned Eddie Fisher. Oh, the Eddie Fisher thing caused quite a scandal. Fisher was good friends with Todd and when the young producer died in a plane crash, he offered consolation to Taylor, the young widow. Maybe too much consolation considering Eddie was married to Debbie Reynolds at the time. Although it was a sticky situation at the time, Reynolds and Taylor … Continue reading

Age Differences – Up Close and Personal

When Matt, the man who would become my husband, and I started dating, he was thirty-three and I was eighteen. As we grew closer, got engaged, and then married, we came to understand that age can be just a number, or it can make all the difference. Looking at the situation now through the eyes of a parent, I can honestly say that if my daughter were to come home with a man so much older than herself, I would probably call the Mafia and see if I could arrange a hit. I’ve heard of (and seen) too many situations … Continue reading

In case you haven’t heard, rumors are brewing that Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony’s marriage is on the rocks. The two have been a couple since shortly after her ill fated relationship with Ben Affleck ended and have been married since June 2004. Lopez gave birth to the couple’s first children, twins Emme and Max, on February 22, 2008. Pamela Anderson Files for Divorce

Well, they said it would not last…wait that is what they said after her marriage to Kid Rock. And they were right! Well, they probably said it again after Pamela’s latest nuptials and again, they would be right because her quickly marriage to Rick Salomon did not last either. Yes, Pamela Anderson, always the bride, never the anniversary celebrator, has filed for divorce. This will be her second divorce in just a little over a year. Pamela told Ellen DeGeneres that she was engaged on a September 2007 airing of Ellen’s talk show. Her fiancé was Rick Salomon, who was … Continue reading

Mike Tyson Pleads Guilty to Drug Charge

If there were two sports legends that I could do without ever hearing about again, it would be O.J. Simpson and Mike Tyson. Both were extremely, extremely talented athletes who chose to let their personal lives overshadow and taint their professional athletic careers. And now both are back in the news. You know that O.J. attempted to retrieve some of “his” possessions from a dealer in Las Vegas. He was released on $125,000 bail and is back at his home in Florida, but faces eleven charges, ten of which are felonies. He could face life in prison if convicted of … Continue reading

Anna Nicole Smith – 1967 – 2007

Wow, you just never know, do you? I was sitting here at the computer, messing around. I usually leave CNN.com open, just so I can check news every so often. But lately, there have not been any big headlines, other than the weather. Michele, the other Pop Culture blogger had just sent me an email. As I went to open it, a friend IMed me a message that said “OMG Anna Nicole Smith? Yikes.” I was like “What?” then Michele’s email opened telling me about Anna Nicole. One of Hollywood’s favorite oddball dames died today at the age of 39. … Continue reading

Two Splits and an Unlikely Duo

I should have known it was coming. I had just read in Star Magazine how great a relationship Drew Barrymore had with the Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti. After all, Barrymore and Moretti had been together almost five years, which seemed like fifty in Barrymore years. Barrymore had not been known for long-term relationships, having been married first husband Jeremy Thomas for only six months and second husband Tom Green for a year. Then I went to the Movie and Television News section of the Internet Movie Database today and there is it – “Barrymore Splits with Strokes Drummer.” There is … Continue reading

Top Twelve Marriage Articles of 2006

Can you pick the best marriage article of 2006? I’ve been writing here since the end of December of 2005 and I can’t tell you how hard this list was to compile, I chose one article from every month of this year and I still don’t think I’ve done every article here justice. With over a 1,000 articles to choose from, culling the list to 12 was beyond difficult. But thanks to a great year and a great co-blogger here in marriage, I’ve done my best. So without further ado, here are my picks for the top twelve marriage articles … Continue reading
