Marriage Blog, I Bid You Farewell

An adventure that began two years ago in Pets, then expanded to Marriage a little over a year ago when I first introduced myself here, has reached journey’s end. Today I’m writing to say farewell. Dale should be rejoining you all very shortly. She’s already back to posting in Christian so I imagine it won’t be long before she makes a reappearance here. You’re also going to get a new face to Marriage, but definitely not to Families.com. Mary Ann Romans is one of Families most prolific bloggers. She’s written in different categories over the years and is currently covering … Continue reading

New Year’s Resolutions – Where Do You Rank?

Are you ready with your New Year’s Resolutions? In just three short days, we bid farewell to 2006 and welcome 2007 into our lives. It seems like just yesterday we were facing the Y2K crisis as we prepared to roll the calendars over from 1999 to 2000 and now, we are just three years shy of turning it to 2010. I remember reading an article in 1999 that described the fact that we were living in an age when science fiction was no longer a fairytale, but becoming fact. No, we don’t have bases on the moon, but we are … Continue reading

Recipe for Disaster

Wet paws and a tile floor created a recipe for disaster. I landed with a massive crash. My eye blurred. My head started to swim. I couldn’t make up my min if I was going to faint or be sick or both. In the end I did neither. Mick helped me up and into a chair. From that point on he was wonderful as he got me dressed and to the hospital. All the time we were both praying it wasn’t going to be as bad as it looked. After all it’s only last year I broke my wrist on … Continue reading

Michelle Williams Copes with Loss

Somehow, some way, actress Michelle Williams has avoided the paparazzi since returning to New York following the death of her ex-fiancé Heath Ledger. By all accounts she did not fly to Los Angeles this past weekend for Ledger’s private memorial and word has it she will not be in Perth, Australia for the actor’s burial either. (Then again, how does anyone really know what her plans are?) The one thing that is certain about Williams’ future is that she still has a movie role waiting for her when she is ready to go back to work. According to production staff … Continue reading

Ringing in the New Year at a Hotel

Where do you typically celebrate New Year’s Eve? On your couch? A friend’s house? Or, in the middle of Times Square? A new study shows that more and more Americans are trading in their fuzzy slippers and hot chocolate for a New Year’s Eve night out… at a hotel. And the city where the most New Year’s revelers hit hotels is none other than Las Vegas. This year Sin City is hosting a slew of celebrity studded parties where common folks can bid farewell to 2007. If you plan to make the trip you might want to leave now because … Continue reading

Home Week in Review: February 18 – 24

They say change is good. Change is healthy. Change is important. Each of these is often true, but change can also sometimes be sad. We have gone through some changes recently here at Families.com, and with those changes, people have been moved around, and some have left us. Unfortunately, Marjorie Dorfman won’t be here any longer and I bid her a fond farewell. She has given us some great articles over the past year, so I hope everyone will continue enjoying the articles she has posted previously. Michele is still here but after this month, she will be busy with … Continue reading

A Moment of Quiet Reflection

I wanted to take a moment while it was quiet here in the house (my husband took the kids to do some errands) and before we make good on a promise to our daughter to go see the film Happy Feet to reflect on the year that lies behind us. Part of the cleaning up of the previous year includes packing away the memories, savoring the good and letting go of the bad. Good Memories We savor the good memories because good memories, like a fine wine, grow far sweeter as they age. Think of the moments and feelings that … Continue reading
