Love is Never Easy

Love is a powerful emotion. It binds us to others. It creates sympathy and empathy between you and another person. When you love someone deeply, you feel their pain even when you don't understand why they are hurting. The idea that love paints the sky in soft hues and cues up the romantic score to play in the background.

Love Hurts

Love can leave you vulnerable to another person. Their careless remarks or even teasing ones can hurt or leave injury. When you love someone, you want what's best for them and just seeing them smile at something you do or said. When they are delighted, you feel that infectious excitement. When they are down, lonely or worried - you would give anything to lighten the load.

Love has a Personality of It's Own

When we are married, we all recognize that there are three personalities in that relationship. The first personality is of course, your own. The second is your spouse. The third personality belongs to the love you share. This is why when troubles begin to stress one or both of you - it is the personality of love that can suffer and be weakened or draw you both back together.

The personality of your love is based on any number of factors, including but not limited to:

  • When the love was born in your relationship
  • How it responded to your caring and commitment
  • What parts of it are mixed up with passion
  • Who feels it and how it interacts between you
  • Why you have previous baggage from other relationships

As you can see, when love exists - it exists almost as an independent entity between the two of you. Love is very much its own personality and it can help bind you and your spouse together, but it needs to be nurtured and cared for just as the two of you need to nurture and care for each other.

How would you define the love personality in your relationship?
