Scrap the Love for Dad

I’m still kicking myself for not making an ABC scrapbook for Father’s Day. The problem with crafting ABC memory books is that they are not as quick and easy to assemble as standard themed scrapbooks (at least for me, anyway). Whenever I commit to creating an ABC scrapbook I need time to sketch layouts and gather materials that are appropriate for each of the 26 pages. Given that we are less than a week away from Father’s Day, it may be unrealistic to undertake the construction of an ABC memory album. However, there are several other options you can pursue … Continue reading

Romance and the Homeschool Mom and Dad

How does your day run? Chances are if you are a homeschooling family your focus is completely on your children throughout the day. A homeschooling mom can make a lesson out of anything and usually does all day long. A homeschooling house often looks more like a classroom than a home. If you enter a homeschooler’s house, and please do not do so without ample warning, you are likely to find an array of textbooks, school supplies, art projects all nestled in with laundry, lunch dishes, and mail that has yet to be opened. What does this atmosphere say? It … Continue reading

Six Additional Places to Leave Love Notes

Once upon an article, Heather wrote about where to leave I Love Yous. Such as on the bathroom mirror or the steering wheel of your love’s car. All wonderful suggestions worth trying if you haven’t already, but what if you have? Are you on the lookout for new places to leave love notes? If so, I have some suggestions for you below: 1. Doors We never shut our bedroom door, so if I want Wayne to find one here I’d have to shut it first. Perhaps you’d face the same dilemma in your household. But I’ve also been known to … Continue reading

Can Things Ever be the Same?

Every relationship hits down times when things are less than perfect. In some cases the partners are unsure exactly what it is that is keeping them at odds and in some cases there is a definite occurrence that has the relationship on rocks. Everything is great and you feel that your mate is the most wonderful person in the world, and then something happens. You see him or her in a whole new light. Your feelings are not as strong as they once were and you begin to feel a distance among the two of you. This occurrence that places … Continue reading

Famous Oprah Moments – Part 2

So, this week, I am talking about famous Oprah moments. After all, the groundbreaking talk show host has been on television for 22 years, there has to be a few incredible moments other than just Tom Cruise’s couch jumping. Here are some more remarkable Oprah moments: Oprah Interviews Betty Broderick In 1992, Oprah had a bit of a Geraldo moment when she interviewed murderer Betty Broderick. Broderick had killed her husband and his lover, but Oprah wanted to get behind the real story. As Betty put it, attorney Dan Broderick and she had had a perfect marriage until he fell … Continue reading

My Daughter’s Very Merry Christmas Eve

Amidst all of the hoopla of Christmas Eve I failed to realize mail carriers were still hard at work yesterday. Frankly, I was shocked when I saw our mail lady drive up and fill our mailbox with a bunch of envelopes. My daughter was even more surprised and not because the mail lady actually showed up, but because of what she placed inside our mailbox. Three weeks ago my 3-year-old daughter wrote a letter to Santa. It was more drawing than writing, but since Santa knows the language of all children I figured he could make out what she was … Continue reading

Why Most Christmas Card Pictures are not of Couples

In a previous article, Courtney asked the question of which represented you as a couple, Christmas letter, cards, or pictures. I think that this is a very good question to ask. However, in my experience I have noticed a trend about Christmas pictures. Very few picture cards that I receive display couples. Most all Christmas pictures are of pets or children, I have a couple of married friends who have no children. Their cards never have pictures in them. However, my friends who do have children all send picture cards. The cards display pictures of their children. Every now and … Continue reading

The Gift of Time

Today is my 35th birthday and it’s funny, I kept forgetting that it was right around the corner and I had to laugh this morning as my husband is up very early (he doesn’t like early mornings), but his gift to me this year is to run all the errands such as getting the kids to school in the morning, picking them up after school and taking them to all their extra-curricular activities like dance, cheer/tumble and gymnastics. His goal was to give me time. What a precious gift that is! For all the things in the world out there … Continue reading

Letters of Love: Rendering Aid

On September 11, 2001, our country woke up to find itself under attack. Many people died that day and for those of us who were old enough to witness it and remember, we will never forget. For one young woman, September 11th began with an engagement and today; her husband serves in the U.S. Armed Forces. This is her letter. Rendering Aid My dearest Lonnie, I wrote this letter to the Marriage blog’s letters of love and I’m hoping they publish it. I’m sending a copy to you as well. I know you haven’t answered the last few emails and … Continue reading
