Scrapbooking: The Early Years

When I first toyed with scrapbooking as a hobby seven years ago, I had a single accordion album and a bunch of random photos. Clearly, I wasn’t well-versed in what it took to create dazzling layouts. Today, I still struggle to design eye-popping pages, but at least I have a bit more knowledge regarding what it takes to make the most of pictures, embellishments and blank pages. If I could do it all over again I would have ditched the accordion album earlier in my scrapbooking journey. Granted, the book is wonderful for beginners, especially since it sports a simple … Continue reading

Former MLB Pitcher Killed by Lightening

I realize that each year, sports figures die and this year is no different. The strange thing about the last two months is that it seems that most lead a long life, died at an early age, or died under some weird circumstance. The latter was the case of Geremi Gonzalez. Gonzalez had pitched for the Chicago Cubs, Tampa Bay Rays, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets and Milwaukee Brewers. He appeared in a total of 131 games before pitching his final MLB game in 2006. He was killed last Monday on a beach in his native Venezuela when he … Continue reading

Frugal Kitchen Towels

If you have had a chance to follow my blogs, then you know that I am a big advocate of reducing paper towel waste. Not only is it frugal to do so, but it is also good for the environment. To take the place of those paper towels, we use terry cloth towels and thing terry washcloths for the kitchen. We can go through several of these towels and cloths in a day. They do everything from wipe sticky hands and faces to clean up spills and dry dishes. I like to keep a good number of the towels available. … Continue reading

Walt needn’t have worried; “Snow White” was a smash hit at the box office and continues to be one of the most famous movies ever released.
