Paperwork and Passwords

There is nothing like getting ready to go on vacation that makes you realize how much needs to be done around the house. I’m leaving on Saturday to go to Maryland for a week. Hailey and Josh are coming over to housesit and keep the dog. I keep finding things I need to do before they come over. I’ve spent my time after work cleaning, vacuuming, doing laundry and pulling weeds. I still need to pack. Based on airline guidelines I’m trying to decide what to take and what I can live without. It will be much easier to pack … Continue reading

Finding Affordable Health Insurance – The Next Step

Previously, I wrote about how I had to cancel the health insurance I was approved for, because it was too expensive. I also wrote about getting help from an insurance broker, in the hopes to successfully complete my quest to find affordable health insurance. Here is an update of what happened next. I got approved for a health insurance plan that was too expensive for me to afford. In order to cancel, or terminate, a health insurance policy, you must send the insurer a letter that clearly states that you want to cancel the plan. You cannot cancel over the … Continue reading

Decorate with Words

Spring is right around the corner, which means wedding season is about to begin. There are a number of wedding shows scheduled in my neck of the woods this weekend. No doubt there will be at least a few scrapbook vendors hawking their wares in an attempt to show brides-to-be how they can showcase their wedding photos in elaborate memory albums. My wedding scrapbook is quite fancy, thanks in large part to my aunt and cousin. They worked tirelessly to craft the entire book. While the photos speak for themselves, one of the most touching parts of the album are … Continue reading

Spice Up Layouts with Memorable Words

Scrapbooking proves that a little can go a long way. This includes embellishments, photos and words. An experienced scrapper knows that it is never a good idea to crowd a layout with so many elements that it invokes sensory overload. I love scrapping with stickers, but there’s no way I could expect a page to pop if I covered the entire thing in adhesives and left little room for the photos and memorabilia to breathe. The same can be said with journaling and the use of quotes. In my opinion, a little goes a long way. Quotes are a wonderful … Continue reading

Watch Your Words

Whether we like it or not, our words define us. They reveal out thoughts and heart attitudes. Jesus knew this. See Matthew 12:34-37 and Mark 7:15-23.You know it too. Listen to someone you know talk. It is easy to pick up clues about the type of person they are from the words they say and the tone of voice in which it is said. Impatience stubbornness, anger, impatience, jealousy will all show up in a person’s words or tone. So will love, gentleness, generosity, patience. Before you jump in and add your thoughts to a conversation, can I suggest you … Continue reading

Using Inspirational Words

I’m not big on using quotes in my scrapbook layouts. I use them occasionally when I am extremely moved by certain words or phrases; however, they really have to fit the theme of my layout in order for me to add them to a page. Some scrappers can’t live without quotes. Their memory books are chock-full of inspirational words that they feel help convey a certain mood or some how describe a sentiment in a particularly eloquent manner. Whether you use quotes to embellish your scrapbook on a regular basis or you only employ them in rare situations, you should … Continue reading
