Enrichment Tip: Brag on Him

So far I have given three tips to help enhance the relationship that you have with your mate (particularly your male mate). In these tips I have discussed communication with speaking out about your feelings, being supportive of your guy's occasional need for a night out, and identifying and accepting any faults that he may have.

In this article I will address tip number four - give him some credit.

It can become very easy to get bogged down and consumed in life's negative aspects. Many people dwell on the things in their lives that are wrong instead of being joyous over the things that are right.

The same goes for our relationships. As discussed in the previous article, we can often be overtaken by our mate's faults. While recognizing and accepting those faults is one way to enrich your relationship, you can also take it one additional step.

Do not only focus on your mate's strengths, let them be known. Letting your mate know the things that you appreciate and love about him will make him feel good about himself and about the relationship. In addition letting others know can also be beneficial.

Women often have a tendency to group together and discuss their mate's downfalls. This can create a negative tone about your relationship among friends and even among yourself. If heard by your mate, it can also make him feel negative toward the relationship.

Make it a point to periodically bring him up (or brag on him) in front of others. Comment to your friends about how helpful he was when you were sick or tell his buddies what a great steak he can grill. Speaking the positive words can give you a more positive outlook on the relationship. Hearing the words spoken aloud to others can give him a better feeling about the relationship too. Hopefully, he too will let others know about your good qualities as well.
