Choosing Your Wedding Cake

Ah, the wedding cake. Probably the item most scrutinized, with the exception of the wedding dress. Have you chosen what kind of cake you’d like for your wedding? Let’s look at some of the different styles. This cake is probably one of the most classic. Each tier is set on a small plastic tray, and those trays are then snapped onto columns, which are snapped onto the bottom layer. You can put anything you like between the layers, as shown here with this couple’s use of goblets. This style of cake is probably the second-most classic. The layers are stacked … Continue reading

Choosing the Perfect Bouquet Size

The bridal bouquet is the single most important floral at your wedding. Corsages come and go, boutonnieres might not last until the next day, but the bouquet will appear in every photo of the bride and possibly dried and kept forever. No matter if the guests remember the flowers on the cake—they will remember the bouquet. So how do you choose the right size? First, consider the weight of the bouquet. The more flowers and ribbons it has, the heavier it will be. If you’re comfortable holding something that’s a little heavier, you might choose to go with one like … Continue reading

Big Wedding Versus Small Wedding

It seems that for a long time, big weddings were expected. Guest lists of 200 to 300 people with large elaborate receptions were the way to go. After all, it is your day, so why not celebrate? I used to love looking through bridal magazines at all of the beautiful over-the-top dresses, cakes, and favors and getting all of the great wedding advice for a large wedding. But with the economy changing, some people are discovering the joy in small weddings, too. Engaged couples may now find that a large wedding with all of the trimmings is seen as ostentatious, … Continue reading

A Unique and Memorable Wedding Gift

Some people come up with great ideas for weddings. This is one of them, which was planned and put together at least six months before the wedding by the mother of the bride. As soon as she knew the wedding date, the mother of the bride contacted all members of the family and asked them for their favorite recipe. The plan was each person would have an A4 page on which they were encouraged to print their favorite recipe, whether it was for main meal, dessert, cakes etc. After each person had printed out the recipe they were asked to … Continue reading

First things first: It’s virtually impossible to completely cover the Disney Wedding experience in just one article, so over the next two months, I will be covering just about everything Disney Wedding from intimate ceremonies to elaborate ceremonies amidst Cinderella Castle to honeymooning at Disney, or as some like to call … Continue reading

Disasters and Marriage

Disasters affect relationships in one of two ways. They can bring a couple closer together as they cling to each other for support and comfort and love. Or they can produce so much anger that people turn against each other and take out their frustrations on those closest to them. This is eyes exactly what is happening in Christchurch. Reports show ‘domestic violence has surged by 50 percent after a major tremor rocked New Zealand’s second city last September.’ That tremor was ‘the prelude to Tuesday’s quake that left at least 123 dead and destroyed parts of the city centre.’ … Continue reading

Happy Monday! Happy May Day! Good Morning! So much is happening today and over the next two weeks that it makes my head want to spin! But here at the Marriage blog, we’re going to be pretty busy too. So in light of both of these, we’re going to the chapel this month. We’re going to jam pack this blog with wedding planning ideas, engagement party planning, wedding flora, wedding fauna and even more … Continue reading
