Celebrity Marriages - Lessons We Can Learn - Part III

Ultimately, what we learn from celebrity marriages is that the fairy tale of happily ever after ... takes work and it takes commitment. Celebrity marriages are often taking place in the pressure cooker of the limelight. These couples are beset by the stress of being photographed, separated for months at a time while working and more often than not, competing in the same marketplace.

If one celebrity's fame is deemed greater than another's, then there is the stress of scandal and negative publicity. The accusations, prying eyes and prying stories published may have little relevance in facts, but they can still affect a couple no matter how much love and commitment exists between them.

Life is difficult, for all of us. Life throws stress at you every day. How you cope with it, how you work together with your marriage partner and how you let it affect you are all you can control. You need a solid foundation of trust, so that lies and innuendo cannot shatter the bonds you share with your spouse. You need to exercise good judgment and good choices so that you are not always putting your spouse last.

You need to recognize that if your career is important and is worth more to you than your spouse's happiness, that you will face difficulties. You need to avoid shutting each other out and worse, furthering the distance by inviting others into the circle of privacy that should be shared by only you and your spouse.

We can learn a lot from celebrity marriages. They are life, personified under a magnifying glass that increases the intensity of their experiences. While they may not have a 'normal' life, as the general public would judge it - their experiences are not as abnormal as we would like to think of them.
