What a great weekend we had here at home. My apologies for not writing a focused on Father's Day article today as I intended. But starting late yesterday, my husband and I both shut down our computers and headed off to spend the next 24 hours focused on the family as a part of Father's Day.

I'm not suggesting that "get lost" should be your answer when your spouse wants a date with you. Not at all. I'm suggesting that you and your spouse actually go out and get lost together. Does that sound a little crazy? Maybe, but don't knock it until you try it.

For my husband and myself, one of our favorite things to do every holiday season is to pick an evening when it's cool or cold outside (in Texas, sometimes you just have to settle for cool) and we pack ourselves into the car with cups of hot cocoa and go for a long drive.

Are you looking for a great way to spend a holiday date night? Last year, my mother-in-law invited our daughter over to spend the night at her house and let my husband and I have an evening to ourselves. We spent the evening wrapping up the presents and watching holiday movies together.
