Weddings with a Difference

Recently I came across several weddings with a difference. The first one is for dogs. No, I am not kidding! I wish I was. What is our world coming to when we can have things like doggie weddings? For $5000 you can have a doggie wedding for your pet, complete with weddings gown. I love our two dogs but this whole idea is so sick. To me it is making a mockery of marriage and all it should mean. In the second wedding in an effort to make it a bit different, the bride to the astonishment of nearby fishermen, … Continue reading

An Unforgettable Wedding?

Planning a wedding, can be a joy, or a nightmare. This depends largely on the people involved and their attitude towards the eventand to the marriage. What it should do is reflect the taste and personalities of the couple whose wedding it is. That was certainly true for Kevin Heinz and Jill Petersen who not only boogied up the aisle on their wedding day but then put the video of it up on You Tube. Since then it has been viewed by millions of people. In the video the entire bridal party, including with bride and groom boogey their way.The … Continue reading

Hurricane Wedding Planning

Are you planning a wedding this summer? While the summer time may be the most popular time for weddings and of course, the honeymoons that follow – it’s worth mentioning for couples planning a tropical honeymoon destination that summer time is also hurricane season. Among the most popular destinations for weddings and honeymoons include Florida and the Bahamas. So if you are planning a wedding, a honeymoon or both in these areas, you need to take hurricane wedding planning into account – especially after some of the hurricanes we have seen over the last few years. You don’t have to … Continue reading

Marriage Tips From Two Long Lasting Marriages

I admit it I’m a romantic. Always have been and I guess always will be. Today two couples share with us the secret of a happy, lasting marriage. Both couples have recently celebrated their 60 year wedding anniversary. You don’t get to celebrate a diamond wedding anniversary without having learned a few things along the way. First there is Jack … Continue reading

Where to from Here?

Too often these days the wedding day is rather like the moon shot or moon walk. At least that’s what my husband observed the other day. What did his mean? Let me explain. He’d been reading an article in Time magazine about Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and others who went to the moon. First there was all the waiting and preparation that went on for so long beforehand, followed by the hype during the moon landing. Then it’s over, the astronauts come home and suddenly realize, once you’ve been to the moon and walked on the moon, what else is … Continue reading

Ro Says No To “O”

Does anyone say no to the fabulous Miss “O?” Apparently, if your name is Rosie O’Donnell the answer is yes. Yes, Ro said no to “O” — as in the legendary talk show queen Oprah Winfrey. In a move that has made headlines around the world (go ahead, roll your eyes), the comedian confirms that she turned down a recent invitation by Winfrey to promote her upcoming autobiography, “Celebrity Detox” on air. O’Donnell says she decided not to go on the No.1 daytime talk show in America because the subject matter in her new book is “too raw.” Oh, puh-leeze. … Continue reading

Cutting Edge Camcorders

Is there anyone who doesn’t have a camcorder these days? Take a trip to Hawaii or a local high school football game and you’d probably answer no. But, I have news for you. A recent study found that camcorder sales are down 6% from last year. Hard to believe, isn’t it? With the amount of videos being shared on the Internet nowadays one would believe that the camcorder is at the height of popularity. But, apparently a relatively small percentage of videographers (especially the ones who upload video on YouTube) use traditional camcorders. Instead, studies found they use more PC-friendly … Continue reading

Educational Vacation Destinations

The school year may be over, but the learning shouldn’t stop… sound familiar? My dad used to use that line on me as a kid. It was his way of trying to convince me (and my brothers) that our summer days would be better spent at the museum rather than at the local pool. In previous blogs I have offered many suggestions for summer vacation destinations, though I will sheepishly admit many of them fall under the amusement park/water park category. That said the following more-educationally-friendly destinations (my dad would be so proud) are ones you may want to add … Continue reading

Seinfeld Seasons 1-7 Only $99.99 shipped

It was the show about nothing that captivated Americans across the nation. My husband still watches it several times a week; I can tell because the guffawing can be heard from one end of the house to the other. It’s humor for adults; sometimes wry, sometimes blatant, always funny. One of my favorite episodes is of George pretending to be a marine biologist. He figures it’s a safe enough lie and that he’ll never be found out. Of course a whale gets stuck on a the beach where he and his new girlfriend are, and he gets found out. Everybody … Continue reading

Big Sur—Nature At Its Finest

I took more than 475 pictures during our recent trip to Hawaii. Now, I am left with the task of sorting through stacks and stacks of photos and deciding which ones to scrapbook and which to place in our traditional family photo albums. Yesterday, as I went to place the photos in my “hold” container I came across shots of our last trip to California, specifically to Big Sur. Writer Henry Miller called it “nature smiling at herself in the mirror of eternity,” and for the millions who have been touched by Big Sur’s beauty, a finer description could not … Continue reading
