10 Tips to Break a Marriage out of the Rut - Part 2
by Dale Harcombe | More from this Blogger
Today I'm continuing the remainder of the 10 tips to break a marriage out of the rut.
5. Go on a Romantic Weekend Away.
If money is tight and you can't afford a weekend away, ask grandparents or another family member or friends to take the kids for the weekend and spend a romantic weekend at home, simply paying attention to each other and each other's needs. Try doing simple things like a massage, a walk on the beach, watching a romantic movie, making love or whatever else appeals.
6. Record a CD of Love Poems
Record a CD of love poems and love quotes and slip it in with your spouse's lunch. Or maybe you could record a CD together of love quotes and make two copies so you both have one to play when the other is not around.
7. Picnic
Make a picnic dinner and go out to a beach, a lookout or some favorite place. Take a portable CD player so you have some romantic music. Dance if you feel like it.
8. Read Together
Read the same book and discuss it together. Or take turns reading it to each other.
9. Celebrate
Celebrate the day you met as an anniversary. If it's too long ago or you can't remember it, pick another day and celebrate it as a 'together day.' Snuggle up and watch a romantic movie or one that brings back memories- maybe even your wedding day video if you have one.
10. Dress Up
Dress up and live out a fantasy. Dressing up is not my thing. I admit the very mention of the words fancy dress is enough to send cold shivers down my spine. But just because it's not my thing doesn't mean it can't be yours. I know other people who enjoy it.
That's the thing with any ideas- not everything will work for everyone. Some might not appeal at all. Others you won't know till you try. In any marriage there is always room for variety and a little creativity. I'd love to hear other ideas you have tried to keep the sizzle in your marriage and stop it becoming ho-hum.
