An Environmentally Friendly Wedding

Our society in many cases is trying to become more environmentally aware. Several organizations are placing an emphasis on supporting and encouraging acts that are good for the environment. One very common phrase or logo that can be heard or seen in magazines is “go green”. I have both heard this phrase on the radio and seen it in print. In most cases I think about not polluting, recycling, and planting trees. I had never thought about how a wedding may tie in with the logo until I came across a recent article stating that there were actually environmentally conscious … Continue reading

Celebrity Summer Weddings

Your cousin is not the only one getting hitched this summer; stars from coast to coast are also exchanging vows in the heat of the season. On Saturday tennis great Chris Evert and golf sensation Greg Norman wed in a sunset ceremony in the Bahamas. The pro athletes, who are both 53, reportedly exchanged vows in front of 140 family and friends, including “Today” show co-host Matt Lauer and singer-songwriter Corey Hart. Corey Hart? Go figure! According to reports, the couple wanted a romantic wedding, which is why wedding planners decked out the outdoor ceremony area with thousands of cream … Continue reading

Thoughts on Wedding Invitations

Wedding season is well underway. Wedding plans have been taking place for some time now. June weddings have been taking place and July, August, and September planners are busily making their wedding arrangements. One important task that many couples undertake when planning their wedding is the issue of invitations. There are many different ways that couples can deal with sending invitations. Some couples choose not to send invitations at all. Instead they do a general announcement of their wedding. Some publish the wedding details in the newspaper and simply invite all friends and family. While this method can be cheaper … Continue reading

Cupcakes Instead of Wedding Cake?

It seems as though a new trend has begun in the idea of wedding reception planning. The traditional wedding reception consists of at least a bride’s cake (usually white), a groom’s cake (typically chocolate), nuts, mints, and punch. Some weddings are much more elaborate but these are usually thought to be the necessities. However, as mentioned in a previous article, weddings are taking on a much less formal and more relaxed tone. The idea behind the wedding cake has changed. Brides are now finding it more acceptable to offer their guests cupcakes instead of cake slices. The time and effort … Continue reading

Cutting Down Wedding Costs

The wedding season is here. With the rising costs of almost everything in our society, many try to cut back on the costs of their weddings by doing some of the work themselves. While it important not to take on so much that you create a very stressful day for yourself on your wedding day, there are a few ways that cutting down can easily be done. Decorations Consider doing the decorating yourself. In most areas the new wedding style is keeping it simple. Huge flower decorations and candelabras are not nearly as popular as they once were. Try using … Continue reading

No Wedding in Sight?

The season of weddings is well upon us. As a previous article on wedding stats revealed, summer months rank very high in wedding ceremonies. When friends, relatives, and others begin planning and talking of weddings, those who are not married may begin to also dream of their own plans. In life we seem to live in stages or steps. As we grow older there are natural life occurrences that we feel should be taking place. For example some are moving out of our parents’ home, choosing a career, getting a job, and yes marriage and children. Relationships also move in … Continue reading

Have a Unique Wedding Shower

As we all know, the season for weddings and wedding planning is upon us. As I walked through Target over the weekend I saw young women roaming the store with scanners and selecting the items that they wished to have on their wedding gift registry. Target is among some of the most popular places for women to register for wedding gift items. Wal-Mart, Linens and Things, and department stores such as Dillards are also popular choices. The most common wedding gift registry items include towels, dishes, silverware, home furnishings, and small appliances. In most cases the items are more directed … Continue reading

More Wedding Stats

My interest lately has been turned into looking closely at the truth about weddings and engagements. My first article in this series addressed some statistics about couple who are engaged. My second article began looking into the actual wedding planning and ceremony. However that article only began to touch what I have discovered about weddings and marriage. Therefore more discussion will be needed. Earlier I mentioned that the most common month for getting married is June. I also mentioned that the largest percentage of weddings are held in some form of church. I also discovered that over half of weddings … Continue reading

Wedding Stats

In my last article I mentioned how I had done some research on weddings and engagements. The article gave some engagement stat highlights. The spotlight will now turn more on weddings themselves. As many assume, June is the most popular choice of months for weddings. This was common knowledge with most people. However did you know, the follow up months are August, September, October, and then May? I found it odd that July was skipped in the mist. I wonder if it has anything to do with the hot weather? Each year American weddings total over 2.4 million ceremonies. With … Continue reading

What Makes a Good Wedding Planner?

In one of my last articles I began discussing wedding planners. For most typical average weddings, a wedding planner is not a must. However if the wedding is large and considered to be a major event, a wedding planner may be needed. The last article gave insight on exactly what a wedding planner is and what a wedding planner does. While researching wedding planners I noticed that several programs are available to train persons to be a wedding planner. I also found some basic guidelines on qualities that make good wedding planners. Wedding planners take on the stress for the … Continue reading
