Finding Your Identity in Your Marriage

I never thought much about my life growing up. At times in my adult life when I’ve considered getting married, having kids, I didn’t have anything but my own thoughts at that time to rely on. It’s strange because I’m an obsessive planner for short-term details, but I can’t think of any point in my life when I’ve had a vision for the future. As a kid I always had dreams of what I wanted to be when I grew up: veterinarian, zoologist, reporter for National Geographic Magazine, but those were always just fleeting childhood whimsies. I never pictured myself … Continue reading

Now I will turn my focus on location. To most couples, marriage is waking up each morning together and going to bed each night together. However for some, time is more spent apart rather than together. These couples live in a long … Continue reading

Surviving Long Distance Relationships

Romance is hard in the best of circumstances, but when you had hundreds of miles to separate couple, it can be tougher. Romance and relationships thrive on communication. Communication is even more crucial when those miles keep you apart. We crave human touch and when circumstances dictate that we have to be apart, it’s more important than ever to keep the contact up. Sending emails, communicating through text messaging, talking in instant messages are all gifts of the technological age, but as close as they can bring people together – they are still a bit impersonal. Consider how wonderful it … Continue reading

Notebook of blessings

A comment on my last blog and a visit to Courtney’s blog inspired me to think about a notebook of blessings. I hope as you read you will be inspired to create your own list of blessings. We have not long returned from a walk down by what people here refer to as a lake but it is actually St Georges … Continue reading
